Our History
For over 30 years, the Innerwork Center has been a cornerstone in the Richmond community, dedicated to fostering psychological and spiritual growth. Founded in 1994 by Nancy Millner as Chrysalis, the organization was born out of a desire to provide sacred, safe spaces for exploring connections beyond mainstream religion. Nancy's vision was to create hospitable time and space for seekers to connect with their true selves, each other, and spirit. The name Chrysalis, symbolizing transformation, reflected this mission. In 2013, it became Chrysalis Institute, emphasizing its commitment to spiritual exploration. By 2019, it evolved into the Innerwork Center, continuing its legacy of transformation and connection within the Richmond community.
Our journey from a small, passionate group to a dynamic nonprofit illustrates our enduring dedication to serving and empowering our community. Today, we offer a diverse range of programs, from mindfulness and meditation to spiritual and leadership development, reflecting our commitment to personal transformation and community impact. Our history is a testament to the curiosity and dedication of those early participants who helped shape our modern-day evolution.
