Begin Within
The Innerwork Center offers contemplative education, practices, and community to help people build awareness, cultivate their own wisdom, and bring greater compassion, authenticity, and meaning to everyday life.
Our Story
More than 30 years ago, our founder set an intention for the Innerwork Center:
“To create a hospitable place where people can connect to themselves, each other, and spirit.”
That intention remains today. We understand hospitality as a space where people are met with dignity, curiosity, and room to explore what matters.
For us, spirit is the search for purpose and belonging to something larger than ourselves. It is a question to live, not an answer to find. Each person is welcome to explore what that means in their own way.
Our Purpose
We exist to make space for people to turn inward, connect with one another, and cultivate the awareness and wisdom to shape how they live. Through contemplative education, practice, and community, we make inner work understandable and relevant to everyday life.
Our Vision
We envision an individual and collective human experience rich with compassion, authenticity, and meaning.
How Inner Work Supports Change
Change is not only a matter of knowing what to do. It also asks us to notice the behavioral patterns shaping our responses and to practice new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating.
Silence, stillness, curiosity, and conversation can help us pause and expand awareness. Learning about human behavior gives us language and context. Reflection, dialogue, and practice help us bring insight into daily life.
We share knowledge and invite inquiry rather than prescribe beliefs or hand down answers. Our role is to create supportive conditions for each person to cultivate their own wisdom.
Our Integrative Approach to Inner Work
Inner work involves the whole person—mind, body, relationships, and sense of meaning.
Our programs draw from four interconnected areas of practice and inquiry. These are not fixed stages or a prescribed path. Some people may move through them progressively; others may enter through one area and move among them as their lives and needs change.
Together, they help people become more aware of what is shaping them, reconnect with their own wisdom, and practice more intentional ways of living and relating.
-
Our bodies often carry the effects of stress, trauma, and emotional pain. Creative expression and somatic—or body-based—practices offer ways to notice and work with experiences that may be difficult to reach through thought and language alone.
In psychologically and physically supportive spaces, participants can slow down, reconnect with their bodies, build resilience, and open themselves to deeper reflection, healing, and change.
-
Inner work begins with becoming aware of the beliefs, emotions, and unconscious patterns influencing how we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to the world.
Drawing from Jungian psychology, neuroscience, and contemporary research on human behavior and change, these programs explore the ego, shadow, projections, and habitual patterns that can keep us caught in shame, blame, disconnection, or limiting beliefs.
As unconscious patterns become conscious, we gain greater freedom to make different choices and develop healthier relationships with ourselves and one another.
-
Awareness creates the possibility of choice. Mindfulness, meditation, silence, stillness, and reflection help us pause between an experience and our response.
These contemplative practices support people in recognizing automatic thoughts and habits, relating differently to difficult emotions, and practicing more intentional ways of being. Over time, repeated practice can strengthen new patterns that support clarity, compassion, emotional regulation, and inner leadership.
As the way we respond changes, so does the way we participate in our relationships, workplaces, and communities.
-
Inner work can also invite us into questions of purpose, belonging, and our relationship to something larger than ourselves.
Our programs explore insights and practices from diverse spiritual and wisdom traditions while honoring the many ways people understand meaning. We do not prescribe a belief system or offer a single answer. Instead, we create space for curiosity, shared inquiry, and recognition of the values that connect us across different histories, cultures, and worldviews.
Through this exploration, participants can deepen their sense of purpose, belonging, and shared humanity.
Learn. Practice. Connect. Transform.
Learn through classes, workshops, and retreats, about human behavior, and personal growth.
Practice through contemplation, reflection, coaching, and other approaches to inner work.
Connect in community groups and shared spaces for conversation, belonging, and mutual learning.
Transform insight into ways of thinking, responding, relating, and living that feel more intentional and meaningful.
Inner work reaches beyond the individual
What we practice within ourselves can shape how we care, communicate, lead, and participate in community. Inner work supports more compassionate relationships and healthier workplaces and communities. It complements the work of improving systems and conditions by helping people see behavioral patterns so they can take part in change with greater awareness and care.
